Certain user flows require more detail and have their own guides, for example Charger Onboarding and Charger Maintenance.

Update Charger Settings

Charging stations have two categories of settings; cloud and on device. Cloud settings are those which are stored in the Switch system and affect how Switch and other connected systems display and interact with the charger. On device settings are stored on the charger and affect how it operates even while offline but can also be viewed and updated from the Switch Platform.

Cloud settings

To view these go to the charger page and select the Settings tab. Here you will see various sections for settings and configuration that can be done fully remotely from the Switch Platform.

On Device settings

These settings are different depending on whether you’re using OCPP 1.6 or OCPP 2.0.1 with your charging station. Both however are found in the same place on the station page Maintenance tab.

OCPP 1.6 charging stations will show “Configuration keys” in the middle which is a list of key value pairs which can be viewed and updated remotely from the Switch Platform. To update a value make sure the charging station is online and the value is not “ReadOnly”. Once you’ve made the desired change click the save button in the top right to send this change to the charger.

OCPP 2.0.1 charging stations will show “Device model” in the middle which is a more advanced version of the configuration keys from OCPP 1.6. Device models are organised by components and variables, each component containing multiple variables. Components can either be physical or controller components, generally controller component names end in “Ctrlr”. Variables are updated in the same way just by editing while the charger is online then clicking save in the top right. For more information about the device model see the Charger Maintenance guide.

Update Location, Tariff, or Drivers

Charger location, tariff, and driver allowlist can be updated from the station overview page via a pane on the right hand side.

Restricting chargers to specific drivers is a requested feature which is on our backlog, expected Q4 2024.
