Identifying a fault

There are several ways to tell if a charger has a fault, and not all faults are created equal!

Chargers which have reported a connector fault or have been offline for over 5 minutes are shown on the dashboard in the detected issues table

You can also receive in-app and email notifications of these issues as soon as they arrive by enabling Notifications.

OCPP 2.0.1 chargers can also report individual component faults. These can be viewed on the charger maintenance tab where faulty components are clearly marked in red (below it’s the Temperature Sensor on Connector 1 which has an issue)

Sending a command to a charger

The remote actions menu on the top right of any charger page provides all the options for actions you can trigger for the charger split by function.

Here you can also see the overall charger status (either online, offline, or pending).

Each remote action will have its own input form, and the actions and their inputs will depend on whether OCPP 1.6 or OCPP 2.0.1 is being used.

Some of the more common requests are expanded on below.

Unlock a locked connector

Detachable connectors can sometimes become locked in the charging station and a relatively common user request from an operator is to unlock them remotely. This can be done by heading to a station page and selecting the lock icon as shown below

Alternatively the command can be triggered from the remote actions menu in the Sessions sub menu.
