Onboarding a charging station is often the first thing you do with the Switch Platform. We’re determined to make this as simple as possible but if you do have any issues onboarding or with particular charging station models raise a ticket at https://support.switch-ev.com and we’ll sort you out.

Easy charger onboarding

This is our quick and easy onboarding guides for those in a hurry - let’s go!

Switch onboarding

 1. Go to https://app.switch-ev.com/stations/new
 2. Select a location for the charger or add a new one (see Locations)
 3. Enter the charging station ID (this is often the serial number of the charger) and click “Add stations”
 4. Select the charger from the list to see it in “pending” (waiting for connection)

Charger configuration change

Advice here can be tricky as each charging station manufacturer has built this in a slightly different way but most common is some kind of mobile app provided to owners and installers. Other manufacturers provide a web app, some require a physical connection to the charger or even contacting the manufacturer to make configuration changes.

The goal with any configuration change is to update the CSMS/OCPP URL to wss://ocpp.switch-ev.com.

We are working on more guidance for specific charging station brands and bringing this into the Switch Platform. If you are having issues updating charger configuration raise a ticket at https://support.switch-ev.com and we’ll try to help out. (Tap Electric also has some good guides for this).

Accept connection request

Once the charger is configured to connect to Switch using a password and it has been added on the Switch side you should see a “Connection requires approval” status and a button below to approve the connection.
