A tariff is what you “charge” (in money) for your customers to “charge” (their vehicles). The Switch Platform offers various structures for tariffs to let you adopt whatever pricing strategy suits you.

Tariffs are used first for reporting, so any tariff you set on a station will show accurate session cost and revenue figures throughout the Switch Platform.

Secondly, they can be sent out to our integration partners so they know what to show the Tariff as on third-party apps and services, and then also collect that exact Tariff from the driver and pay you. The way this works depends on the integration, read our integration FAQs here to learn more.

Create a Tariff

Head to the tariff onboarding form and choose the type of tariff you’d like (fixed or variable). You will then be able to enter all of the details for your tariff.

A simple per kWh tariff would look like the following:

Click “Create tariff” and you will see it in your tariff list page.

Note: By default tariffs are created as “Local” types meaning they’re used for reporting purposes only and not for real billing of drivers. The “External payments” toggle box will show if you have a third party payments integration enabled which will make this a real tariff applied to drivers.. To learn more about tariffs for payment integrations head to the relevant integration support page.

Edit a Tariff

On the right-hand side of the tariff list is a three dot button with an edit option. Select this to update any of the tariff values then click “Update tariff”.

Note that this will update the tariff for all stations that have it applied.

Delete a Tariff

On the right-hand side of this tariff is a column named “Actions” and here you can click the “Delete” button (a trash can). This lets you delete the tariff if no chargers are using it.

If the tariff has chargers attached to it, you must remove all of the chargers attached before you can delete the tariff. This can be done through the flow described below by selecting “No tariff assigned” when choosing the station tariff.
